Gargi is an Advocate-on-Record in the Supreme Court of India and has over sixteen years’ experience in litigation across a wide range of disputes.

She has represented clients before the Supreme Court of India and the High Courts of Delhi, Allahabad, Bombay and Madras, in disputes of a general civil nature as well as public and regulatory matters. She is actively involved in litigation before the High Court of Delhi, the National Company Law Tribunal, the State and National Consumer Forums and the Supreme Court of India.

Regulatory practice — power and energy

Apart from her general civil litigation practice, Gargi focuses on regulatory laws in the power and energy sector. She has represented State distribution companies as well as private generators in several landmark cases before the Supreme Court of India, the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL), the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), and the State commissions of Jharkhand (JSERC), Uttar Pradesh (UPERC) and Maharashtra (MERC).

She represents and advises Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC), the distribution companies of the State of Bihar and the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), alongside private clients including Gajanan Ferro Pvt. Ltd., the Association of Consumers of DVC, Sunsure Energy Private Ltd and Global Energy Private Ltd.

Company law and insolvency

Gargi is a regular practitioner before the National Company Law Tribunal and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal, representing clients in company law disputes and in matters pertaining to insolvency and bankruptcy law.

Background

Gargi was formerly associated with the chambers of a Supreme Court senior counsel with a steady practice in arbitration, disputes relating to telecom laws, corporate and insolvency laws, and constitutional law.

She is an alumnus of Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, and of Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi.
